Local poverty eradication program by wEC

    A five-year poverty eradication program launched by WEC in Da Wu county, Hu Bei province, central China, where WEC was located, come to a close in 2006. Economy development of Da Wu county is rather backward, and it was included in the national poverty eradication strategic program. As a high-tech corporation, WEC initiated its own local poverty eradication program in 2001 to promote the economic development in Da Wu county. During the five years of program implementation, WEC contributed 3 million yuan, as well as its most prominent talents into this county. Owing to such a massive contribution, GDP of this county in 2006 is doubled compared to that of 2001.

education fund set up by wEC

     WEC announced in June 7 that it will provide 2 million yuan to set up an education fund, which shall be intended to help students from urban family in economic difficulty. This fund shall be directly run by the local educational administration, and WEC will impose annual audit on the expense of this fund. It is estimated that 5 thousand students from poor family will benefit from this fund. Now, WEC and the local educational administration are discussing some details on how such fund will be run. It is believed such fund can really come into effect by November.
